Most of us don’t need a complete overhaul to feel more on top of things. Usually it’s a handful of small habits, repeated often, that make the biggest difference.

1. Plan the week on Friday afternoon

Spend ten minutes before you finish up looking at what’s coming next week. Monday morning feels a lot calmer when you already know where to start.

2. Keep one list, not five

Notes on your phone, sticky notes on the desk and a notebook in your bag are easy to lose track of. Pick one place for your to-do list and stick with it.

3. Do the hardest task first

Energy and focus are usually highest early in the day. Tackling the job you’re most likely to put off means the rest of the day feels easier.

4. Batch the small stuff

Emails, phone calls and quick admin jobs are more efficient when you deal with them together, rather than letting them interrupt everything else.

5. Leave a little space

A diary packed back to back leaves no room for the unexpected. Building in short gaps gives you time to catch up, think, or simply take a breath.

Try one or two of these for a few weeks and see what sticks. Small changes add up.
